Custom Arrangements

Christian August is an arranger, transcriber, and producer whose work spans student ensembles, soloists, and nationally recognized professional groups. He currently serves as one of the staff writers for The Blueshift Big Band, a Chicago-based ensemble signed with the record label I Am 8-Bit. In this role, he creates full big band arrangements of video game music, working closely with the ensemble to produce professional-level performances and contribute to the group’s growing national acclaim.

He has also been commissioned to write full ensemble arrangements for Dundee Middle School’s Bishop Super Band, with his charts featured at major public performances including West Dundee’s Heritage Fest and the annual Schoolapalooza festival. His work with developing ensembles reflects his ability to create engaging, educational, and performance-ready music tailored to specific groups.

In addition to ensemble writing, Christian has prepared custom transcriptions and arrangements for solo performers, including a concerto transcription of Vocalise for a student concerto competition winner. He has also worked in mixing and production, including assisting with projects for artist Joshua Tatum, and is currently expanding his production and recording services, which will be available for commission in the near future. His work is guided by a deep understanding of musical structure, ensemble balance, and professional recording and arranging standards.
